Carol J. Buttler became City Manager of La Marque in September of 2011, with over 18 years of municipal government.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Management from the University of Houston - Clear Lake, in addition to an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Aeronautical Technology.
Carol is a current member of the Texas City Management Association (TCMA)-Region 6. Among other officer positions, she served as President of Region 8 (San Antonio area) and served on the State Ethics Committee prior to relocating to La Marque. As a member of TCMA, she follows the TCMA Code of Ethics (see link) for guidance.
She has twice served as President of the Hondo-D'Hanis Rotary Club and, in July of 2015, will begin her term as President of the Rotary Club of the Mainland.
She references Rotary's Four-Way Test (of the things we think, say, and do) when considering decisions for the workplace and the community.

Carol and her husband, Alan, met in high school 45 years ago and have been married for 28 years.
They enjoy golfing and traveling when their schedules allow.
