Update from La Marque Office of Emergency Management: The shelter in place order has been lifted for residents in La Marque and Texas City. We have been advised that the chemical involved is a light hydrocarbon product and poses no danger to the public. Please avoid all areas in the vicinity of the Valero Plant in Texas City. 5:37 p.m. 4/19/18
There has been an explosion at Valero Texas City plant involving an unknown chemical. Emergency Management sirens have been activated but the shelter in place has been lifted.
