Switch to well water is NOT expected but City if La Marque Public Works is preparing wells as a precaution.
Gulf Coast Water Authority is preparing to repair a section of 42-inch-diameter water line and does not expect service interruptions to municipal customers served by the line.
Plans are to take the line out of service on Tuesday, Jan. 22, and have it back in service by the end of the week. The section of line to be repaired is located near the Texas City Wye.
GCWA will use alternate water lines to serve Galveston Island, Tiki Island, Bayou Vista, Hitchcock and Santa Fe, as well as portions of La Marque and Dickinson. The water authority, which provides drinking water to most of Galveston County, will update and coordinate with water service providers in those affected communities during the repair period. GCWA is asking citizens in those communities to be conscious of their water use while the line is out of service.
