The City of La Marque Boil Water Notice has been LIFTED as of 11:55 AM on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Citizens can go back to normal water usage. The water is safe to drink.

BOIL WATER NOTICE
The City of La Marque has issued a BOIL WATER NOTICE. Water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for human consumption. City of La Marque water customers should expect a widespread reduction of service from Wednesday, February 17, 2021.

Residents should reduce water usage significantly. Please conserve. Only use water if it's essential for health and safety. Do not drip faucets. Showers should be limited to five minutes or less and landscape water use is prohibited. If you have a leak, shut off water to your home as soon as possible. If you have a leak and are unable to shut off the water supply, call La Marque Public Works at 409-938-9280.

We realize many citizens have no power. Use bottled water if you are not able to boil.

Water availability is critically low across Galveston County. Most of Southeast Texas is under a boil water notice at this time. Public Works crews are currently shifting to well water delivery.

Conditions are not expected to improve until the winter storm ends, infrastructure thaws and repairs can be made. We are doing everything we can, and we promise to keep citizens informed as soon as information becomes available.

NOTICE TO BOIL WATER
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water system City of La Marque (PWS ID TX0840006) to notify customers of temporary interruption on service while the repairs are being done and the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the water system officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption. Instructions to discontinue boiling will be issued in the same manner as this notice.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact the City of La Marque at 409-938-9280.
