Update from LMPD: citizens may notice additional patrols and dispatch service from Galveston County

LMPD Press Conference_BLUE

An important update from our Assistant City Manager of Public Safety, David Jordan. Citizens may notice patrols and dispatch service from Galveston County.

The
La Marque Police Department
is facing an unexpected health challenge that caused staffing issues. Immediately upon discovering this issue, the city implemented safety protocols to protect our remaining staff and citizens. In response, we requested assistance under our mutual aid agreement with Galveston County Sheriff's Office, who agreed to provide additional patrols and dispatch services.
The La Marque police and Galveston County Sheriff's Deputies are patrolling and responding to calls for service.
We anticipate this will be the situation for the immediate future. All La Marque Police, Fire and EMS phone numbers remain the same. For emergencies, dial 911. The non-emergency dispatch number is 409-938-9269.
The City of La Marque appreciates Galveston County's immediate response to our mutual aid request. Their quick action ensured no interruption in service to the people of La Marque.
The continued safety, health and welfare of all our citizens remains our number one priority.
