When Glenn bought his home, he noticed the previous owner had a love for plants. The family who lived there before him left potted plants, and the yard had flowering bushes and existing hooks for hanging planters.
Glenn learned that the previous owner passed away about a month after selling her home. To honor her memory, he took it upon himself to keep everything she left alive to the best of his ability and to make it the nicest yard he could. That's how he fell in love with gardening.
Here's what he had to say:
My favorite plants are elephant ears, no question. My yard is a certified natural wildlife habitat. I have native feeding flowers such as Cypress Vine for hummingbirds and butterflies and fruit trees, including banana, elderberry, pomegranate, loquat, and figs. I have tons of varying hibiscus and lilies, a bunch of different elephant ear varieties, Indian Blankets, and a few different Morning Glories. I grow eight kinds of peppers. I built everything in my garden myself - I even dug out my entire pond with a shovel and wheelbarrow.
Congratulations, Glenn! Thank you for keeping La Marque beautiful, for feeding the native wildlife, and for sharing your story with us.
