Game Gone Global
Galveston County Football made history this summer as two incoming freshman at La Marque High School (Jauron Reid Jr. & Leonel Rubio) became the first Youth Football players to represent the County on a global platform in the 3rd Annual Caribbean Football Classic in Puerto Rico. This event showcased players from the USA, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. Players spent nearly 2 weeks in Puerto Rico engaging in cultural exchange, participating in a combine, camp and playing in 2 games. Reid and Rubio showed up and showed out with Rubio making team Captain and Reid taking MVP honors at both the combine and the championship game.
“It was good to see our players hard work pay off. Coaching them in this event and seeing them help their new teammates get these wins further shows how bright the future is for them and other players in our program. Our goal is to connect them with resources useful to their academic and athletic futures.” Said Bryan Winston YSC All-Stars Founder and Coach/Recruiting Director for the Caribbean Football Classic in The Southeast Region of the USA (New Mexico, Texas & Louisiana).
The selection of Reid & Rubio came from their participation in the Texas v. Louisiana All-Star Youth Bowl as member of the Texas All-Stars. This is just the beginning as the YSC All-Stars Program will be taking players from Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico to participate in more events both foreign (Canada, Europe and more) and domestic (California, Nevada and more) in 2018. Reid and Rubio have set the bar high for players from Galveston County and the YSC All-Stars program as everyone is waiting to see "Who's Next" to go from "Local to Global!"
