Friends of La Marque Library launched a new program that will feature authors from the Galveston County Area. Free reading event and book signing this Saturday.
Friends of La Marque Library (Friends) has launched a new program that will feature authors from the Galveston County Area the second Saturday of each month at La Marque Public Library, 1011 Bayou Road. The November reading event is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2018, and features Danette Fogarty, who has published 22 books. One of her books, “A Love As Big As Texas”, is set in Galveston County.
In a recent blog post, Fogarty said she will discuss her Texas-based books at the La Marque Public Library Reading Event.
“There will be free refreshments, some gifts and, of course, books you can purchase,” Fogarty wrote. “I'm excited for this opportunity to meet some new readers. My next book, “Lights, Camera, Christmas”, will release on December 5.”
Friends of La Marque Library President Terri Pettijohn said the new program is just one outreach effort. The organization hosts book sales as a means of fundraising throughout the year and accepts tax-deductible donations.
“Friends of La Marque Library is a support organization, said Pettijohn. “We are a nonprofit that helps fund library programs. The local author reading initiative is new, so we are still working out the details. Believe it or not, there are quite a few who live in La Marque!”
