Khambrel Foundation installing inspirational rock gardens during National Kindness Week
Khambrel Foundation, a La Marque 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is working to improve the social well-being of individuals, groups, neighborhoods and organizations in Galveston County by promoting kindness, literacy and anti-bulling programs. Founder Tonia Rene Griffin’s latest outreach is the Mainland Kindness Rocks Project, which is scheduled from February 9 - 15, 2019, during National Kindness Week.
For the past several months, Griffin and her volunteer group, Righteous Acts of Kindness, have been identifying locations with high community and visitor traffic, hosting rock painting parties and planning peace gardens. Beginning February 9, Khambrel Foundation and Righteous Acts of Kindness will drop kindness rocks and plant inspirational gardens across La Marque and south Galveston County.
“Our mission is to promote acts of kindness in our communities, said Griffin. “We’re turning our city KIND, one rock at a time, leaving no rock uninspiring! All it takes is one Righteous Act to change a life.”
Khambrel Foundation has partnered with the La Marque Economic Development Corporation, La Marque Garden Club, La Marque Parks Board, La Marque Public Library, Mainland Preparatory Classical Academy, City of Texas City-Nessler Senior Center and One Red Shoe Foundation to plant inspirational rock gardens at these facilities.
“Hosting a rock painting party is easy and free,” said Griffin. “All you need is a volunteer group and kindness. You can choose to plant a garden, drop rocks or let our volunteers find a place for them. Our goal is to make cities kind one rock at a time supporting the global kindness initiative. All rocks, paint, brushes and supplies are donated via a grant funded by The Pollination Project.”
