Those who have active warrants in La Marque encouraged to contact the Municipal Court at 409-938-9245.

Beginning in February, U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement agencies throughout the state of Texas, including La Marque Police Department, will kick off an annual effort known as Texas Warrant Roundup to collect debt owed on outstanding warrants. According to Rosemary Bell, La Marque Municipal Court Director, City of La Marque and local law enforcement will team up to enforce the Galveston County Warrant Roundup February 23 through March 8, 2019.

“We encourage those who have active warrants in La Marque to make contact with the Municipal Court and may arrangements for payment,” Bell said. “Avoid being arrested at your home or place of employment. Call us to find out if you have a warrant or search online at www.municipalonlinepayments.com/lamarquetx.”

The Texas Warrant Roundup also involves the cities of Galveston, Santa Fe, League City, Texas City and more than 260 jurisdictions in Texas.  In 2011 alone, more than 4,000 arrest were made and nearly 30,000 warrants cleared in the City of Houston and Galveston County.

“Don't risk being arrested once the Texas Roundup starts," Bell said. "If you think you have a warrant, contact us to find out for sure. If you voluntarily come to court, you will not be arrested."

According to TexasWarrantRoundup.org, the state of Texas allows a grace period before the Warrant Roundup strikes. Any citizen of Texas may come forward to square their debt and pay their fines without further penalties. But, once the roundup starts you can be arrested at any time or any place; including your home, at work or school. If you have outstanding warrant in Texas, it's strongly advised to contact the local authorities and straighten out the warrant before the grace period ends.

If you've forgotten to pay a ticket or appear for a court date, you may have an outstanding warrant in your name. In addition to risking arrest and jail time, anyone with an unpaid fine or warrant during the Texas Warrant Roundup, a hold can be placed on the renewal of your driver license until the warrant is resolved.
