This multi-agency law enforcement operation was executed under the umbrella of the U.S. Marshal’s Office and was formulated to zero in on the gang violence that has been plaguing Galveston County.
For almost two weeks in January 2021, a multi-agency law enforcement operation under the umbrella of the U.S. Marshal’s Office took place in Galveston County and the surrounding region. This operation was formulated to zero in on the gang violence that has been plaguing Galveston County.
Operation Washout resulted in 123 arrests, 44 of whom were gang members, 34 firearms, 18 ½ pounds of narcotics, and 691 rounds of ammunition being taken off the streets.
The La Marque Police Department is honored to have been involved in Operation Washout. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with the U.S. Marshal’s Office on this endeavor. Although Operation Washout has ended, our efforts have not. The law enforcement agencies across Galveston County continue to work collaboratively to combat these gang-related crimes. Our multi-agency law enforcement efforts are ongoing in Galveston County.
Thank you to the U.S. Marshal’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, the Galveston Police Department, the Texas City Police Department, Hitchcock Police Department, the League City Police Department, and all the criminal justice personnel who provided logistical support during the operation.
