On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, a lengthy federal investigation culminated in the arrest of five individuals on charges of money laundering and preparation and sale of narcotics to residents of La Marque and Texas City.

The investigation referenced below was a cooperative operation between the U.S. Department of Justice, the FBI Houston-Texas City Resident Agency and the La Marque Police Department. Department of Justice guidelines do not allow law enforcement agencies to provide information about the existence of pending federal investigations. As in any given matter, now that charges are filed, they are a matter of public record.
On Wednesday, March 24, 2020, a lengthy federal investigation culminated in the arrest of five individuals on charges of money laundering and preparation and sale of narcotics to residents of La Marque and Texas City.
Smith Henry Jones and Lekisha Marie Jones, both of Houston, were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering. Harold Damon Brown, Dejon Nicole Thomas, and Latoya Vonea Worthy, all from La Marque, were also arrested and charged with narcotics offenses. Shane Alan Flores of League City and Ronnie LaShawn Allen of Hitchcock also face charges related to this investigation.
This operation is a major blow to the criminal element in Galveston County. The La Marque Police Department continues to work in concert with other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to address crime plaguing the citizens of the County.
