EARLY VOTING

EARLY VOTING began Monday, April 19, 2021, and will continue through Friday, April 23, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. 

Early Voting resumes on Monday, April 26, 2021, and Tuesday, April 27, 2021, from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Election Day is Saturday, May 1, 2021. 

There are two polling places within the city limits of La Marque for early voting and election day voting, La Marque Community Room at 1109 B Bayou Road and La Marque Fire Administration Building at 5715 Texas Avenue. 

 This general election will elect a Mayor and two Councilmembers, one in District A and one in District C. For information, visit http://cityoflamarque.org/610/2021-Election or galvestonvotes.org.

BULK TRASH DELAYS

Due to a drive shortage, Waste Management is delaying bulk collection by one day this week. We apologize for the delays and understand your frustration about bulk trash being out on the roadways. Waste Management should be caught up by Saturday. If you’d like to report a complaint, please call  800-800-5804. 

EARTH DAY FEST

  • 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • Walter Feigle Park next to the library

La Marque Public Library and Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission are planning fun recycling games, eco-friendly crafts and take-home activities for the kids. This is a free event open to all La Marque citizens and friends. Please bring your mask and practice COVID safety guidelines.

COVID VACCINATIONS

  • 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • McKinney Memorial United Methodist Church
  • 1607 Nashby Street

Any person who wants the vaccine is encouraged to register. Appointments are encouraged but not required. Both shot 1 and shot 2 of the Pfizer Vaccine will be available. Any person who got Shot 1 at Abundant Life Church on April 13 should attend the McKinney Memorial UMC Vaccination Drive on May 4, 2021, for Shot 2.

KIDS FISH VOLUNTEERS

Registration for 350 kids filled up in less than 48 hours! Now we’re looking for 100 volunteers to join in the fun and help our kids and families during La Marque Kids Fish. All volunteers must agree to a background check by La Marque Police Department. Bonus, our volunteers get breakfast donated by Whataburger!

CRAWFISH BASH

  • All-you-can-eat crawfish from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

 It’s back, La Marque! Bigass Crawfish Bash brings family entertainment, live music, and crawfish to Highland Bayou Park. Visit https://bigasscrawfishbash.com for information and to purchase tickets. This is a city-sponsored event. Proceeds benefit several local charities, The Bash is a major tourism draw for our community. The Crawfish Bash Foundation holds a Guinness Word Record for most crawfish prepared in eight hours. On April 1, 2017, 58,083.98 pounds of crawfish was cooked in La Marque. The event will be smaller this year and COVID safety protocols are in place.

  • 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • La Marque Fire Administration Building 
  • 5715 Texas Avenue  

Meet us before you need us! Bring the family out for games, demonstrations, giveaways, hurricane preparedness tips. See all our fire trucks, high water rescue vehicles and meet our Public Safety Team.

The La Marque community newsletter is coming soon. This year we’ll have a spring, summer and fall editions, as well as a special edition featuring City Council and important community resources.
