Tinks CM Update

City building lobbies reopen April 26, 2021

Beginning on March 13, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, I issued guidance that significantly altered the daily operations of our city facilities and the methods by which city staff interacted with the public.
These changes were temporary, allowing time for science to provide solutions to this global issue. We have reached the point where science is prevailing. COVID-19 treatments have been refined, and everyone is eligible for the vaccine. City employees have had the opportunity to take the vaccine and have their household vaccinated.
As such, it is time to reopen our doors to the public at all facilities. The majority of our city staff has been working in the office or designated workstations throughout the pandemic. Some elected a combination of work-from-home and in-office, depending on COVID risk levels and family dynamics. All city staff returned assigned workstations and pre-pandemic schedules beginning April 20, 2021.
Today, Monday, April 26, 2021, we reopen our doors to the public.

The following provisions will be in place for public interaction within City of La Marque buildings:

  • The front doors of all City of La Marque municipal buildings will be open during regular business hours, which are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
  • Citizens and visitors can access the foyer areas in all buildings to conduct business with the city. Foyers have were retrofitted with plexiglass partitions for employee safety.
  • City staff must wear masks when interacting with visitors and citizens unless proper distancing can be achieved.
  • We cannot require people to wear masks, but we will request that citizens and visitors wear masks while inside city facilities.
  • Any citizen or visitor who requests to meet with city staff beyond the security doors or beyond the plexiglass partitions must agree to wear a mask in the internal portions of our buildings and agree to a temperature check. No person with a fever will be allowed to interior parts of city facilities. If visitors refuse these employee safety protocols, we will meet with them in foyer common areas through the plexiglass.
Discussions about in-person public meetings are ongoing.
We ask for patience as we settle back into "business as usual" at our city facilities. All digital services expanded during the pandemic will remain available moving forward for citizens who are not yet comfortable coming into public settings.
