To be eligible to take the examination, you must perform the following: 
  • Pick up a City of La Marque Employment Application/packet from City Hall available Monday – Thursday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., or download the Police Department Application and the City of La Marque Employment Application at policejobs.cityoflamarque.org and HR.cityoflamarque.org.
  • Complete the applications and return them no later than 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept 28, 2021, to the Civil Service Director at City Hall anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday – Thursday. The Police Department application contains all instructions necessary regarding supporting documents required. A study guide will be given to each applicant when returning their packet.

UTILITY BILLING CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE - See more

Description: Responsible for providing efficient and courteous customer service to citizens/customers by performing clerical duties for the preparation and maintenance of City Utility Billing records. The incumbent must follow detailed instructions and adhere to standards and procedures. Work involves receiving, balancing, and depositing cash and checks, ensuring the accuracy of accounts, selling waste bags, and filing records. The position reports to Utility Billing/Sanitation Manager, the pay rate is $13.53 per hour and the job will be posted until filled.

Description: Performs technical and skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the City's water treatment plant, groundwater wells, water storage tanks, lift stations, and associated facilities.  The incumbent is responsible for maintaining water and wastewater records of readings, making adjustments, and maintaining equipment and fixtures as required. The pay rate is $14.730 per hour, and the job will be posted until filled.  

DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DIRECTOR - See More

Description: This is a management-level position that reports to and is supervised by the City Manager. The Development Services Director manages and coordinates the processing of applications, plans and permits related to property development within the City, including the supervising of staff or contractors assigned to the Development Services Department, Building Inspection Department. This position shall coordinate the review of private projects and land development plans for compliance with codes, regulations and standards, adequacy of applications for permits, and overall compliance with City regulations. Reviews zoning change applications and assists the Planning and Zoning Commission with recommendations, supporting documentation, and presentation to the Planning & Zoning Commission and the City Council. Manages the agenda and serves as staff liaison for the Zoning Board of Adjustments and Planning and Zoning Commission. Required to attend evening meetings including but not limited to: Public hearings; City Council-appointed Board and Commission meetings; and other meetings as assigned. Leader in developing departmental priorities, objectives and goals, and actively seeks out new processes and technologies to help improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness. Develops and implements projects and programs for the Community Development Department and establishes broad priorities and work sequences under the direction of the City Manager. Coordinates responses to public or other inquiries relating to building codes, design, permitting procedures and construction practices and compliance. The salary is $95,000 and is the job will be posted until filled.
