Official Statement in regards to recent community action on social media.
In recent weeks residents in our community and surrounding cities have made comments towards each other on social media platforms, which have been perceived as offensive and threatening. Each case was investigated and forwarded to the Galveston County District Attorney's office for review.. A permit for a mass gathering on public property in the 2500 block of Cedar between 10:00am and 11:00am was applied for and was denied by city staff. A group has since gained permission from a private property owner in the area, to have a gathering.
The La Marque Police department wants to assure every citizen that we will be present and will be enforcing not only Texas State Law but also La Marque City ordinances. Some of the actions that will not be allowed are, (i) loud music plainly audible at a distance of 50ft or more (ii)unreasonably loud noise which causes distress, discomfort or injury to persons in the immediate area and (iii) loud speakers, sound amplifiers or any other device which produces, reproduces or amplifies sounds.
We ask all citizens to avoid this area during the time mentioned if possible.
