[ARCHIVED] PREPARING FOR COLD WEATHER
An arctic cold front will bring strong winds and bitterly cold air into Southeast Texas, most likely Thursday afternoon. Please prepare to protect the 4 Ps (people, pipes, pets, and plants).
1. The combination of winds and low temperatures will create dangerously low wind chill indices. The danger of hypothermia, burst water pipes, etc. Strong winds could lead to scattered power outages.
2. Long-duration freeze. Will remain below freezing in most zones from Thursday night into Saturday (`36 hours or more).
3. Strong Gale to near Storm Force conditions over the waters behind the front. Rough seas, blowout tides, low water, etc.
